Frequently Asked Questions

What is "Club Travel" Baseball?

"Club Travel" baseball is a program for young players who demonstrate the skills and commitment to develop in a competitive setting. "Club Travel" baseball requires a significant time, energy and financial expense from players, parents, and coaches. Typically, this includes nearly a year-round commitment that includes fundraising, team functions, practice and games. A "Club Travel" program like Impact provides a higher level of training and development as opposed to a "City Travel" program. "Club Travel" programs train their players utilizing professional and experienced coaches and trainers. "City Travel" programs are typically coached by appointed fathers and any additional "professional" training will come outside of the main team budget, which increases the overall cost. "Club Travel" provides the best opportunity for athletes to train and develop within their programs.

How many teams are in the Impact BC Program?

We are not limited to specific age groups, but we would like to field 8U through high school aged teams each year as interest continues in our program. We are a quality over quantity program in that we do not feel the need to field multiple teams at single age groups. Impact expects all age group represented teams to compete at the highest possible level to commensurate with the talent and experience of the players on that team.

How many games are played and where are they located?

Schedules vary by team and age; however, we do try to follow age group number of games as shown below. As the words "travel baseball" are implied, some schedules may include traveling outside of Cuyahoga County, but usually within 45 minutes to 1 hour. We try to schedule our furthest opponents on the weekends. Most league games are often during weekday evenings, but some may be scheduled on weekends. Most Tournaments start on Friday and end Sunday (High School aged teams may start on Thursday and play during the daytime hours), may include multiple games in a single day, and travel to these tournaments are typically less than 1 hour for non-overnight or local tournaments.

Age Group # of Scheduled Games # of Tournaments Total Games

8U - 9U 14 to 18 League 2-4 Tournaments 25 to 30

10U - 12U 16 to 20 League 4-6 Tournaments 35 to 45

13U+ 14 to 20 League 6-7 Tournaments 35 to 50

*Number of games may change based on league and tournament schedules, this is only a guide.

When are games played?

Game schedules largely are influenced by field availability, and league opponent schedules. Most club travel baseball leagues require games be played between mid-April to mid-July for youth and late-May to late-July for high school. Typically, most games are played in the months of May & June for youth and June & July for high school.

How many players per team?

Typically, our 8U, 9U and 10U teams will roster 11-12 players. 11U and 12U teams will roster 12-13 players, 13U to 15U teams may have up to 13-15 players each. High school teams may even get up to 16-18 players depending on players who only pitch.

Will all teams have paid Professional Coaches?

Teams that participate between 12U+ will require paid experienced coaches to develop players as they begin to mature and prepare for high school and college baseball. We believe our 8U to 11U teams can be managed with an experienced parent/sibling as its head coach, but they may have a paid coach if available. Impact will train and evaluate the 8U to 11U Head Coaches along with their primary assistant coaches. These coaches will be volunteers for their respective teams and will have assistance from our staff with field visits throughout the season.

What player development and training do you offer?

Impact BC Ohio strives to provide high quality training at The Impact Baseball Club facility by utilizing our diverse and highly-qualified coaching and training staffs. We have coaches available for team, small group, and individual training in all areas of baseball.

Additionally, we have coaches who can offer each team and its players an opportunity to participate in strength and conditioning programs. These coaches are professionally trained and certified.

We will also be offering specialized, position-specific clinics at an additional costs. These clinics are not mandatory and are offered as an enhancement to your training experience.

How does your high school "club travel" program operate with high school baseball?

The 14U travel baseball season may begin without roster players who will play for their respective high school team, as long as game roster lineups do not cause forfeiture for lack of available players. The 15U travel baseball season formally will begin after the conclusion of the high school grade baseball season, which typically ends in mid to late May (Memorial Day Weekend). This schedule provides the option for players to participate in both programs if they choose. If teams scheduled games during the same calendar period, players would not be eligible to be active participants on both rosters simultaneously.

Players who successfully make their high school teams will not be able to participate in any Impact BC Ohio training, league or tournament games typically starting in late- February until their high school season has ended. This rule is mandated from OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association).

Is Impact Team Sports a for-profit venture?

No, we are not. Impact is a non-profit organization. All teams are tightly budgeted to the best of our ability and any leftover money is carried through to the next year to benefit our athletes. We have a board of directors to oversee all administrative functions of the organization.

Our teams do hold fundraisers for themselves and we do offer fundraising opportunities for the organization as a whole from time-to-time.
